Revisions :
1. V4.00 New design : Based on my MD80/MD81 panels published for
FS5.0 and FS5.0a.
MD80 Panel for FS5.1 and FS5.1 CD-ROM Page 2
MD80PRS4.ZIP, v4.00, 10.09.1995
What you need else for this panel to run ?
- You need Microsoft Flight Simulator Version 5.1 either disk or CD version
installed on your harddisk. So far we could not see any problems with
various languages version. However test's have been made with english
versions only.
- MS-FS 5.1 must be configured to run in SVGA mode. Do not attempt to run in
another mode. You can use standard or haze-drivers. You should be able to
fly any add-on scenery designed for FS 5.1. However test's have been flown
on the following sceneries only :
- Europe 1
- Carribean
- Japan
- New York
- San Franzisco
- Washington DC
- Dallas (MicroWings)
- The following original MS-FS 5.1 files are used from this panel and must be
in the \PANELS subdirectory of your FS5.1 installed:
SNDL4 .BIN
SNDL5 .BIN
SNDL6 .BIN
SMASTER1.GAU
STIME2 .GAU
SASPD2 .GAU
SSLIDER2.GAU
SGHEAD .GAU
SVOR1 .GAU
SVOR2 .GAU
LR_GHEAD.PIX (if you do not install version coming with MD80, see
above)
- Color palettes: We are using in our panel designs only colors supposed to be
foreseen from MS for cockpit designs. You should see all sceneries in their
correct colors during day and night.
- Every situation saved with "INSTRUMENT PANELS AND VIEW WINDOW POSITION"
option switched to "OFF" should bring up instrument panels and all windows
in a correct position when loaded. The MD80 panel v4.00 does not require
anymore special situations !
- You may use any aircraft. However most testing has been done with MS-LearJet
35a, DC9 from Simula and DC9 for the Interstate 7.
ATTENTION
- You need to register (see below for procedure) to receive the gauges re-
quired by this panel to have full features. However you can fly/slew with
this package arround and you can swich thru all panel-sections but you will
not have i.e. the radios running. You may use the menus to get acces to
commands.
- If you should have received the package including the gauges and you have
not paid for, you are using an unlegal copy ! Please uninstall the panels
or register as described below !

MD80PRS4.ZIP, v4.00, 10.09.1995
Thanks to :
John Trindle for his panel-documentation. His work launched me into the
panel design originally. The work of my partener Thierry Davroux is a big
help to me as well. Without his research this panel would not be possibel.
Further I would like to thank to all of you for feedback, suggestions
and patient trying out my panels until yet !
Disclaimer :
The new panels have been tested with FS5.1, english version, both disk
and CD version on our Pentium 90 Mhz, PCI bus, either with ATI Mach64 or
ATI Mach32 display adapter. MS-DOS 6.2, QEMM 7.50, Stacker 4.0, Windows
for Workgroups 3.11 are in use. Windows 95 has not been installed yet !
We are running FS5.1 from the DOS command, not from Windows !
The FS5.1 is configured for VESA or ATI display. We used various starting
configurations of FS5.1, including situation files, add-on sceneries and
various aircrafts. Further panels where reported to work fine on 486-
systems with various graphic adapters.
Any garantee for your system, your programs or your nerves is herewith
disclaimed ! The authors of this package do not garantee that the package
is without bugs either they may be responsibel for any damage the use
of this package may cause.

They may be free distributed to all friends and FS-Fan's for pleasure
and amusement as long the files are not modifyed in any way and the *.GAU
files which have to be registred to use legaly, are not included.
In short words this means : HAVE FUN WITH IT !

Original Files from FS5.1 are used from this panel system. This work is
not supposed to hit on any of these copyrights, more we hope this is an
add-on to give all FS users fun and hours to use the software.

Installation :
0. ATTENTION :
Before installing please make a backup-copy of at least your
\PANELS directory. My panels should not destroy any files but
to be careful on such things is allways honored ! Further be
aware that older files are overwritten !
1. You may leave all FS5.1 original files in their location as
they are. However the files as described on page 2 MUST be in the
directory \PANELS
ATTENTION :
There is a new LR_GHEAD.PIX enclosed in this MD80 version.
FS5.1 does request this file-name, so take care you have a copy
of your original LR_GHEAD.PIX !
2. Copy in your \PANELS directory original FS5.1 file LEAR_S.PNL to
LEAR_SOR.PNL or similar for future use if ever ! The DOS command
shall look similar to:
COPY C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\LEAR_S.PNL C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\LEAR_SOR.PNL
and copy in your \PANELS directory original FS5.1 file LR_GHEAD.PIX to
LR_GHEAD.ORI or similar for future use if ever ! The DOS command
shall look similar to:
COPY C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\LR_GHEAD.PIX C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\LR_GHEAD.ORI
Other original files from FS5.1 should not be overwritten from
this panels (see step 1 ATTENTION note).
3. Unzip all the files in the zipped file to your \PANELS sub-
directory of FS5.1. You should only have requests for overwritting
files, if you have allready installed this panel and for the file
LR_GHEAD.PIX (see step 1 ATTENTION note).
4. Copy in your \PANELS directory MD80PRS4.PNL to LEAR_S.PNL.
You may also copy to CESN_S.PNL to use with Cessna. The DOS
command shall look similar to:
COPY C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\MD80PRS4.PNL C:\FLTSIM5\PANELS\LEAR_S.PNL
or :
modify the PANELSET.FS5 file by changing the line for the
aircrafts you want to use the MD80PRS4 panel. To change the panel
for Lear Jet style aircrafts change the line
2 S LEAR_S to 2 S MD80PRS4
using an ASCII-editor (i.e. good old DOS EDIT) or save in ASCII
format with other texteditors.
ATTENTION:
As per today you have to use 1 panel for each family of aircrafts, so
you can not use differnt panels for LEar Jet and DC9, both belongs to
the same aircraft family type.
5. Start FS5.1 as usual (i.e. FS5.BAT or FS5 X on the DOS prompt).
Have fun !
Installing old panel back :
6. Just copy the LEAR_SOR.PNL file to LEAR_S.PNL and the LR_GHEAD.ORI
file back to LR_GHEAD.PIX back (reverse step 2) to have it again
or
modify the PANELSET.FS5 file (reverse step 4, 2nd variation).

How to use this panel (see registration notes as well !):
This version does not use other keystrokes or procedures than described in
your FS5.1 manual. You will find instruments in another arrangement than
original FS5.1 panels. However if you do not have the registred version, some
instruments will not show up or can not be used. You ONLY will see the
picture and layout of the panel. But you can fly and try all over FS5.1
world !
0) Main panel - compass, time, sime speed, controls,
airspeed, attitude, angle of attack, VOR1 + ILS + OMI,
heading with ADF if not in shown as sep. instrument,
altitude, vertical speed,
[TAB] is not used
[Shift] + [TAB] does switch between 3 panel arrangements :
1) Navigation - VOR2, ADF, spoiler, trim, throttle
2) Engines - gauges, throttle, starters
3) Communications - radios, switches A/P, lights, strobes, zoom,
spoiler, trim, throttle, flaps, gear
[Num Lock] brings up the map-viev in the right side part of the outside view
[Num Lock]+[Num Lock] removes the map view
NOTE:
Please be reminded that having the MAP view on you can't switch with the
outside-view in other directions !
[Alt],[V],[2] brings up the View2 window in the left part of the outside view.
[Alt],[V],[2] removes the View 2
NOTE:
Please be reminded that having additional views open your frame rate does
decrease.
NOTE:
The menu-bar is hidden behind the cockpits upper part. Use the mouse to click
on the locations where menu-points are estimated or hit the [Alt] key to
bring up the menu.

Known Bugs :
As per editing this DOC-file NONE bugs in the panel itself are known if
used on systems as described above.
There are still some areas on which we will try to improve i.e.:
1. SLEW and PAUSE indicators do appear inside the altimeter.
2. The OBI lamp "OFF" sometimes does not appear before OBI signal was
received from an airport.
3. Due to panel size ATC's talking is not very long visibel on screen.
4. Overhead panel not functionally yet.
5. ZOOM sometimes does not allow all increments to go thru.
6. Extensive switching thru various views and panoramic outside view
may hang the system.
7. On some systems respectively graphic-adapters "map"-window may be hidden
behind the "view2"-window when brought up.
8. Installation routine which does allow you to switch between all panels
comfortable and fast.
Error Handling :
If you shall receive any error-messages please go thru the following steps:
1. Write down the error message and as well the conditions under which the
error was found.
2. Read this DOC file again and check if all steps where succesfully done
and your system does run under the conditions as described above.
3. Try to find out if a change in your system configuration may have caused
the error (i.e. new graphics card etc.).
4. Try to find out if new installed add-ons to FS5.1 may have caused the
the error (i.e. new scenery, new adventure etc.).
5. If error-cause could not be defined, contact us under CIS 100277,3222.
PLEASE DO NOT PHONE, my 6 year old daughter may not be a big help for
you in this particular subject !
Your message shall advise:
- error message (i.e. "Your spouse is asking to enter the cockpit")
- processor used (i.e. "Intel 486DX-66")
- graphics adapter used (i.e. "Fantastic View 256 Big Turbo Booster"
with 16 GigaByte VRAM)
- memory used (i.e. 8 Mb, extended and expanded, QEMM 7.5)
- any comments or hints you may think could help to find a solution.
6. We will try to sort out the error and propose some solutions. Please
try to understand, that we are doing this work in our free time (mostly
it is very dark outside...) and error trapping can take a lot of time.
If you do not hear something from us within 3 days please RESEND your
request to assure we have received it.
7. If you could solve the problem, please report to us for the benefit
of other users and new designs, thank you.
